Is it safe to always keep the charger plugged into the cart?

It is not safe if the charger is not equipped with the correct feature. On older chargers, if the automatic shut off fails to work inside the charger and it happens to overcharge for a long period of time the batteries can explode.

You can however leave the cart plugged in all the time with some of the late model chargers. Several are equipped with a 15 day diagnostic check, which monitors the batteries voltage every 15 days and allows the charger to be plugged in for weeks or months. Check with your local golf cart dealer to see if your charger has this feature.
